Telugu film "Robo" Music Review

How is it - Lifeless lyrics and beatless music...what is the use of such songs of a mass hero like rajni.

Song 1. O Maramanishi - Double voice of SP. This song is similar to many other rahman song. I feel like a school rhytme where u tell about problems and how to overcome them...kiddy. Robo...Robo...singing is little odd. OK - situational song.
Song 2. Neelo Valapu - Starting (terala) is very odd. similar to Baba duet song (baba O baba). Not suitable for Rajini.
Song 3. Inumolo O Hridayam - Both singers Rahman and Suzane Kash are good. Rehman must understand that people don't understand if u r going to give songs like Church prayers.....
Song 4. Chitti Dance Showcase - Good one (shades of Hindi film song Blue).
Song 5. Harima Harima - Composing is good. lyrics bad. (yeltuda.yeltuda - what is it?). Hariharan is good. Sadhana sargam voice is somewhat uncomfortable/odd at every takeoff(pitch).
Song 6. Kilimanjaro - I will be playing this for few times. Chinmayi is excellent specially when she sings those single words twice (khokhokho, arey nuru kotla, aaaa. yenchu..yenchukondi is sexy). Instead of Javed Ali, SP or Hariharan would be better choice for this song.
Song 7. Boom Boom Robo Ra - Single instrument played at the beginning of the song is good. (chitti chitti robo...if this was at the beginning of the song...it would have been a good humming number for common fans). All singers are excellent. good composing. Will be repeating this song for a couple of times.

Telugu film "Don Seenu" Music Review

How is it - Perfect Ravi Teja type music. U will enjoy...

Song 1. Aidhella Vayasu - Starting itself is adurus..(onti peru seenu, inti peru don. vedu evado....) title songs      can't be better than this. enjoyed. Baba Sehgal is very good. lyrics by Rama Jhogaya Sastry is good.
Song 2. Raja Raja - This song is typically of keervani style. good melody one. Geeta Madhuri and Sri Krishna are good.
Song 3.Nayanakana - OK song.
Song 4. Aduguthundi - not good. shades of some old mani sharma songs.
Song 5. Andhamemo - lyrics is good so is the rhythmic beat. Hemachandra is good. mixture of rhythmic beat and melody mix - that's manisharma style.

This music for mass audience and well composed according to the story of the film. Manisharma, as always has given the right music in keeping in view of the hero image. Listener don't get offended by the usage of other langauges like english or hindi. That is great.

Two songs Aidhella Vayasu and Andhamemo ....listen to them

Telugu film Don Seenu trailer

Just saw "Don Seenu" trailer.  Arupu....like a hollywood film trailer. Telugu industry is setting its standards to the heights.  This trailer is one such one.
Looks like the film would be more a comedy type than action packed. That is what Ravi Teja is best at and that is what audience expects from him.
Best of luck for the whole film unit.

komaram Puli trailer

Just saw Komaram puli trailer. Felt disappointed. Hope the film will not disappoint in the same way.

Telugu film "Komaram Puli" Songs Review

How is it - Always felt Rehman don't fit into our type of filmi music.  My Belief is right... Just waiting to see how these songs will be picturized.
Music by A R Rehman

  • First song "Power Star" is good with little bit of  Hindi film "Blue" Song Chorus and so on..but good one.
  • Second song "Amma Thale" - same like "Markandeya" song from "Nani" film. Lyrics is good and female singer Tanvi Shah has sung this song very well.
  • Third song "Maaralente" - remembers me of a song from Boys film (Maro Maro). Sad style of imitation of English songs....(Rehman is poor singer for this song!!).
  • Fourth song in this album "Maham Maye" - this is one good song; I liked this. Lot of Pronuncation problem or is it intentional to pronounce words in very typical manner. Bad.
  • Fifth song "Dochey" - Different.  After a long time, listening to voice clearly in a song..good...Shreya Ghosal rocks.
  • Last song "Namakame" - Exact copy of "O Paalanhaare" song from Hindi film "Laagan" and little bit of Rehman own tamil songs chorus combined.  But lot of changes in composition with different musical instruments and used only couple of instruments at some places.
Overall, the album is OK but how to picturized this type of songs and that to for a mass hero like Pavan Kalyan.
Rehman has to get over his hang over for Slow music with Orchestra type composition as when composing for mass heros.

English movie "Knight and Day" Review

How is it - Nothing great; boring with little comedy.  See it only for Cameron Diaz.

Expectations will be high for a Tom Cruise movie. But this movie will let u down. Nothing new in the film either technical, acting, action or in story telling.  Watch only if u have no other option.

Plus:
1. Diaz, Diaz, and Cameron Diaz.
2. Little bit of suspense

Minus:
1. Tom Cruise
2. Dull action scenes

Telugu film - Golimar

How is it - No boring at all...good Action film with little bit of romance. Go and Watch it.
Screenplay: Very good
Writing about screenplay before hero and director. Director has worked a lot on the screenplay and that shows on the screen.  It has all the integrants of a good commercial film with very tight screenplay (action, drama and little bit of romance) making the film watchable by fans as well as regular cinema goers.

Director Puri Jaganath: Back to his original style
Not everyone can make commercial films keeping the image of the hero as well as collections.  Puri from the beginning is very good in handling the hero characterization and he has done it again.  The script in his previous films like Buggigadu and Ek Niranjan was not so good and tight.  This film has good screenplay, right turns/twists, love, action with neat dailogue but missing is the comedy.  The love track between hero and herione is well directed.  There is something that director Ramgopal Varma has to learn from this film. Varma is no doubt one of the best directors in the country but when u have regular flops, then u have to fall back on formula based films for success.  Hindi film “Ab Tak Chappan” was poor at box office but with the same story, Puri made into a commercial hit.
Hero Gopi Chand: Perfect
I think this is his best performance after ‘Okkadunnadu’ and ‘Ranam’.  He is perfect for this role.  Acting, dresses, stunts, dailogues and dances are all picture perfect.

Herione Priyamani: Good
Jolly type of role.  Done well but has to take care of hair styles which covers her whole face.  Over weight...Yes.

Roja:
Roja is perfect.  Her dialogues are really good.  Would like to see her in more films.
Nazar: thought small role... good

M S Narayana: Super O Super
He is superb in this film so are his dialogues.  His role brings little bit of enjoyment (typically Puris) in a very serious movie.

Music by Chakri:
Disappointed. Leaving one melody songs in the second half which reminds me of a song from "Nennethe" film.  Chakri voice is also growing like his body size.  First song’s lyrics are good.

Photography – Shyam K Naidu: Excellent
I think first song in the film is shot with some type of “Sepia” color or something like that but looks different.  In last song, lighting effects in the background (using very thick colors) is good.  But the best Picturization is the slow song where “Close shots with Wide angles” are really really excellent (taking this type of shots is really difficult). I think I will be watching this song many more times to learn few things about photography.  Excellent work, Shyam K Naidu.

Most enjoyable part of the movie: Dailogues between Gopichand and M S Narayana
At the beginning of the film, communication between Gopichand, M S Narayana and all the sequences before Gopichand becomes police is really enjoyable.

Telugu film – Rama Rama Krishna Krishna

How is it – Just a time pass movie if u r a regular movie buff.

Here is an actor whom I believe has all the qualities of becoming a mass hero.  He looks good, has good mannerism, fights and dances well.  He is also careful while selecting stories and directors.  But this time he has failed.  This film is “Kichidi” of many films or at least the hero characterization.

There are some actors who can perform their roles with such an accuracy leaving mark in the film even though their role is very small.  Once such actor is Arjun.  He selects roles which fits him and plays them perfectly.  No complains about Arjun role or his acting in his film.  He is a saving grace in this film.

Many directors and producers are very good in the beginning of their careers.  But as time goes on, their judgement becomes weak or they go according to their GUT Feeling.  That is what is happening with Producer Dil Raju.  We don’t expect this type of film from Dil Raju.

Hero Raam – He is good but getting routine in his acting, dialogue, dancing and mannerism which should be avoided as much as possible.  Two songs in this film are same like songs in his previous films like Ready and Maska.  Short hair style is not looking good.  He needs to work with new dance directors.  It is only because of his energetic acting, the film is watchable.

Producer Dil Raju - Thumps down.  Disappointed to have a movie like this from his banner.

Director Srivas – formula film are good only when u can mix them properly.  Need to work more on the story and lot of improvement needed in direction.

Photography – very ordinary and poor.

Heriones – Priya Anand is good but Bindu Madhavi…no comments.

Music – I always like Keeravani music.  Music composing for 200 films is no small achievement.  Long way to go but care must be taken to avoid composing like this.  Once song “Godavari” has keeravani mark and the rest are below average.

KANNADA MOVIE: film PRITVI – VERY DECENT

How is it – Go and watch this movie.  Sometimes u need a different type of movie.

I was not during Dr. Raj Kumar era.  Recently, we lost Dr. Vishnuvardhan.  It has been more than 15 years from now, I am seeing Kannada movie on and off.  Very rarely I am lucky to see a decent film like Prithvi.  What is good about this film is that the director and hero didn’t care for commercial elements.  Very decent and dignified acting/dialogue delivery by Puneeth.  It can be called the best decent acting by Puneeth till date.  The credit must go to the director for having full command over the script but couldn’t end it in a right way.  The climax fight by the hero is unnecessary though it needed for the mass audience.  The heroine, Parvathi, is good (especially close shots where only face is shown) but she looks different from different angles (good from some angles only).  The chemistry between hero and heroine is great and two slow songs a must repeat.  Photography could have been more effective but using the REDDISH color adds seriousness and nativity of the subject.  Picturization of two songs are very good.  The film starts in similar fashion like Hindi film “Gangajal” but somewhere in the second half looses the grip.

I think Puneeth is too early in his career for this type of roles, but Shivanna would be perfect.

Plus:

  • ·     Direction by Jacob
  • -     Puneeth acting.
  • -     Decent dialogues
What I liked most in the film was the discussion between hero and heroine and particularly the hero response to the heroine’s frustrations and so on.  I hope director would make a decent love story in the same lines. I think Puneeth can now try roles like Tamil film Khaka Khaka.

Minus:

  • No commercial elements
  • Must have worked more on story (twist and turns) and must have included more on administrator side like misuse of funds, catching black money which would have been liked by the masses. (See Tamil film “Kandaswamy”)

Good Film - Ballayya is Back with "Simha"

Verdit - Good and decent film.  Fans will be happy with BALLAYYA Stunts and Dailogues.

Nandamuri Balakrishna is back with his Telugu film “Simha”.  After a long time, we have a film with all the integrants that Ballayya film has.  The direction by Boyapati Srinivas is Superb and much credited must be given to the way the director has molded the role of the hero.  Few things which are highlight of this film are:
  • Ballayya – Perfection to the every frame – that is what I can say, about Ballayya acting in this film.  Played the dual role without any antics or over acting.  Dialogue delivery is very simple and sharp.  Dancing is OK.  But it’s the serious of the character which has been played well.  Not a single frame, dialogue or action is overboard.  Ballayya is perfect in doctor role. There are some roles which only Ballayya can do in Telugu Industry and he has again proved that with this film.
  • Boyapati Srinivas – First film was perfect.  Second film was OK but with flaws.  But with this film, Boyapati can put into top league of telugu directors.  The greatest about the direction is that the film is well planned, simple and accurate.  From starting to the ending, the director has the grip on the story, actors and technical aspects.  More credit must be given to the director for the Ballayya acting which has no tamashas, jatkas or overacting.  Ballayya is good looking; dialogue delivery is perfect and straight.
  • Stunts – After Hero and director, it is the stunts which will be talked about in the film.  Stunts means not Hollywood type or Hong Kong type.  This film has stunts which are regional and very native to our locality.  Every shot is typically a “Village type beating” which you rarely see in films now a days.  Ballayya is perfect in performing these stunts.  Much credit must be given to the stunt master and camera work for perfect picturizing them.  Back ground for the stunts is good.
  • Dialogue – is good in the film when compared to other Ballayya films.  They are very short but convey the message and seriousness of the scene very well.  Ballayya dialogue delivery is excellent.
  • Photography – is good especially in the second half of the film.  Action sequences were picturized excellently.
  •  Dressing and Makeup – Very Good, specially Balllayya’s.  But too much of jewellery for Nayanatara
  • Story – Overall story is OK but is very loose with no turns and twists in the second half.
  • Music – I have not heard the audio but on screen, the songs are OK with good mass beat.  Chakri needs to work up little more.
  • Editing – is perfect which gives depth to the sequence and the running of the film.
  • Heriones – Namitha and Nayanatara have performed their roles well but instead of Sneha Ullal, any other heroine would be better

Plus:
  • Boyapati Srinivas direction
  • Ballayya acting and dialogue delivery
  • Stunts are great
  • Photography and Backgound music is excellent
  • Editing is good.

Minus:
  • Music to some extent. No catcy songs except two songs.
  • Story is straight and simple
  • No comedy track and comedians are mostly wasted
