KANNADA MOVIE: film PRITVI – VERY DECENT

How is it – Go and watch this movie.  Sometimes u need a different type of movie.

I was not during Dr. Raj Kumar era.  Recently, we lost Dr. Vishnuvardhan.  It has been more than 15 years from now, I am seeing Kannada movie on and off.  Very rarely I am lucky to see a decent film like Prithvi.  What is good about this film is that the director and hero didn’t care for commercial elements.  Very decent and dignified acting/dialogue delivery by Puneeth.  It can be called the best decent acting by Puneeth till date.  The credit must go to the director for having full command over the script but couldn’t end it in a right way.  The climax fight by the hero is unnecessary though it needed for the mass audience.  The heroine, Parvathi, is good (especially close shots where only face is shown) but she looks different from different angles (good from some angles only).  The chemistry between hero and heroine is great and two slow songs a must repeat.  Photography could have been more effective but using the REDDISH color adds seriousness and nativity of the subject.  Picturization of two songs are very good.  The film starts in similar fashion like Hindi film “Gangajal” but somewhere in the second half looses the grip.

I think Puneeth is too early in his career for this type of roles, but Shivanna would be perfect.

Plus:

  • ·     Direction by Jacob
  • -     Puneeth acting.
  • -     Decent dialogues
What I liked most in the film was the discussion between hero and heroine and particularly the hero response to the heroine’s frustrations and so on.  I hope director would make a decent love story in the same lines. I think Puneeth can now try roles like Tamil film Khaka Khaka.

Minus:

  • No commercial elements
  • Must have worked more on story (twist and turns) and must have included more on administrator side like misuse of funds, catching black money which would have been liked by the masses. (See Tamil film “Kandaswamy”)
